What You'll Do:
Set the Data Agenda
Partner with Atomic’s leadership, customer success and product teams to identify and prioritize the most impactful analytics initiatives for our financial technology platform.
Proactively surface new opportunities to use data to improve customer experience, product adoption, compliance monitoring, and overall business performance.
Prioritize incoming requests based on strategic fit, ensuring we focus on the right business questions that drive growth and risk management.
Define and communicate a clear analytics roadmap, tightly aligned with Atomic’s company goals.
Deliver Insights that Influence Strategy
Translate complex data into actionable recommendations tailored to executives, customers, and cross-functional partners.
Guide the team in uncovering root drivers, risk indicators, and growth levers — providing the “so what” behind the data.
Personally produce high-quality analyses, models, and dashboards when needed to support critical business priorities, go-to-market initiatives, customer reporting, and compliance.
Lead and Build the Data Function
Collaborate with data engineering to maintain scalable and reliable data pipelines across systems.
Establish and enforce analytical best practices, validate outputs, and ensure data integrity in a highly regulated environment.
Build the processes, tools, and governance to mature Atomic’s analytics from startup scrappiness into a high-performing function that supports product, customer, and regulatory needs.
Implement Data Governance and Best Practices
Establish a single source of truth for metrics by organizing, cleaning, and maintaining reporting systems.
Develop and maintain a company-wide data dictionary and consistent KPI definitions — ensuring clarity across compliance, product, and commercial teams.
Implement proactive processes to monitor schema or data source changes across financial integrations and prevent downstream reporting issues.
Regularly audit, streamline, and retire redundant or outdated dashboards and reports.
Act as a Cross-Functional and Customer-Facing Partner
Operate as a product manager for data — scoping requests, clarifying requirements, and balancing trade-offs with business impact.
Translate product, compliance, customer success, and external partner needs into data questions, delivering insights that support measurable outcomes.
Communicate trade-offs, timelines, and limitations effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders, including external customers and partners.
Build trust with customers by delivering accurate, timely, and actionable insights that strengthen relationships and support Atomic’s reputation as a data-driven partner.
What We’re Looking For
5+ years in strategy, analytics, or data leadership, ideally in financial services or payroll.
Proven ability to influence company strategy through data, driving measurable business and compliance impact.
Strong SQL skills required; Python or R a plus. Experience with BI tools (Tableau, Looker, Databricks) preferred.
Skilled at leading and mentoring analysts while being hands-on when needed.
Exceptional problem-solving, communication, and storytelling skills — able to influence executives, board members, customers, and external partners.
Highly organized, process-driven, and comfortable building scalable systems in a dynamic, resource-constrained startup environment.
Comfortable in a customer-facing role with the ability to represent Atomic in conversations with clients, respond to data-related questions, and deliver insights that create measurable customer value.
About Atomic Financial:At Atomic, we're building financial connectivity that enables the fintech and financial services ecosystem to connect consumers to the data in their payroll accounts, drive conversions of direct deposit linked products, verify income and employment history in real-time, update the card-on-file in merchants, and manage their subscriptions and bills.
We believe consumers should be able to easily share their own payroll data to improve their financial outcomes. However, connecting to the data is cumbersome, met with non-specialized solutions, which is why we founded Atomic.
Signing up for a mortgage? We make it so you can submit your paystub and W-2 in seconds. Getting a credit card? We can verify you're employed in real-time. Switching banks? We can instantly and securely move your direct deposit to the financial institution of your choice.
We build user-permissioned connectivity into payroll and merchant systems. Our products are used by some of the largest financial brands in the world, and we're funded by some of the best investors in the world, including Greylock (investor in LinkedIn, Nextdoor, Airbnb, and others), Core Innovation Capital (invested in Ripple, Nerd Wallet, and others), and Portag3 (invested in WealthSimple, Albert, and others).
Our team has been the reason for our success thus far, and it will be the reason we continue to succeed. We're looking to continue to grow our world-class team to shape the tomorrow of Atomic.
Atomic's Culture is:
Innovative - we're on the bleeding edge of the fintech space empowering some of the coolest brands in the world.
Transparent - we believe in being transparent with everyone in our company. Feel free to ask how we deliver on this promise during the interview process.
Customer-centric - we're wild about our customers.
Fun - We all spend a big portion of our lives with colleagues, so we want it to be fun. Our last company activity was a virtual escape room. Each team competed and we had a blast!
